WHAT TO BRING

Your child(ren) will be going to or coming straight from school, so, whatever they wear to school or have with them for school is all they need!

 

Personal Items

  • Label all personal items (backpack, water bottle, lunchbox, etc.)

  • Leave toys and electronics at home

    • School laptops may be used for homework

    • Students may use their cell phones and smart watches to contact family members with counselor permission

  • Send your child(ren) to The Back Pack with a water bottle

Food

  • The Back Pack provides an afternoon snack each day

  • Before Care students are welcome to bring their breakfast with them

The Back Pack is a nut-free facility. Do not send any food items that contain any type of nuts or that are manufactured in a plant that produces nut products.

HEALTH & SAFETY

The Silo Center complies with the Virginia Department of Health regarding health and safety procedures.

Immunizations are to be up to date for all children attending The Back Pack. These forms must be on file prior to your child(ren)'s first day.

Health

If your child shows any of the following symptoms, he/she will not permitted to attend The Back Pack that day:

  • Lethargic

  • Fever

  • Vomiting

  • Diarrhea

  • Any sign of contagious disease

  • Deep Cough

  • Discharge from nose or eyes

Children should not return to The Back Pack within a 24-hour period of experiencing any of the listed symptoms.

The Back Pack reserves the right to send a child home if he/she is not able to participate in activities or could spread illness to other children.

Safety

The Back Pack staff are certified and trained in CPR, First Aid, AED, Medication Administration, EpiPens, and Narcan.

Families will be notified of a student's injury with an Incident Report and a phone call as deemed necessary (more than a bandaid, head injuries, etc.)

To ensure the safety of our students, The Back Pack conducts monthly fire drills and quarterly shelter in place drills.

If you need to enter the building, please coordinate before your arrival. Ring the bell, and after identification verification, you will be buzzed inside.
