The Back Pack welcomes school-age children from Kindergarten through sixth grade.
OPEN DOOR POLICY
This will resume as soon as it is safe to do so, in the meantime if you would like a tour of our facility or would like to observe your child’s activities, you must set up an appointment. We do apologize for this inconvenience but it is for the safety of our staff and our students.
At The Back Pack, we pride ourselves in running an amazing program that our children, parents, and staff are thrilled about. We strive to create a comfortable and welcoming environment for everyone and invite families to stop by and visit our program. By touring our facility and observing daily activities, parents and children can better appreciate how our day runs and therefore get a feel for the program. Please contact our administrative office (1.888.581.3555) if you are interested in visiting The Back Pack.
What to Bring
"Get your backpacks ready"... Your child will be going to or coming straight from school, so whatever they wear to school or have with them is all they need. We provide afternoon snack. Parents, as you pack those backpacks, please be certain to label all of your children's clothing and items. The Back Pack is well prepared with action items and creative activities. Please leave favorite toys at home. We understand that some parents equip their children with a cell phone for contact purposes. Use of a cell phone is permitted with staff permission and primarily to contact parents.
The most important item needed for each day is a healthy attitude ready to discover new things while interacting with others.
Students should follow the dress code of Fairfax County Public Schools. They are encouraged to dress comfortably and appropriate to our standard of modesty. You never know what kind of activity we'll have going on at The Back Pack, so for safety reasons, we ask that you send your child in tennis shoes. Again, we ask that as you pack those backpacks, please be certain to label all of your children's clothing and items.
Food & Snacks
Your child may bring their breakfast with them for morning care. We will provide afternoon drinks and snacks. We highly recommend your student bring a name labeled water bottle to and from The Back Pack each day. NUT FREE: We are a nut free program. Do not send any items that are manufactured in a plant that produces nut products.
